New coach Cheryl has bravely opened up about her malaria battle and overcoming stage fright while filming The Voice.

The Sun can reveal the national treasure, 43, confided in auditionees about her own struggles on the final day of the shoot in Manchester.

Sources tell us she hopes that sharing her own story and personal moments will help her relate to the contestants.

The Love Made Me Do It singer also reminisced about Girls Aloud’s 2024 reunion tour, which included five sold-out nights at London’s O2 Arena.

A source said: “There has been a lot of noise around the new series due to the sacking of , but Cheryl has been on top form from day one.

“She started her career on a talent show, so she knows what the contestants are going through.

“She’s been really keen to put them at ease and throughout the last day of filming opened up about battling malaria and wider heartbreak.

“At one point, she was talking to a contestant about nerves and admitted that when it came to Girls Aloud’s reunion shows in London, she felt so safe with her bandmates the nerves were almost non-existent.”

The show is due to air on ITV next year—and marks six years since Cheryl has returned to TV.

The last time the singer was on prime-time TV was as a judge on the BBC show The Greatest Dancer.

Cheryl has been raising her son, Bear Payne, away from the public eye.

The singer told fans she’s been “chronically online” while taking time out of the spotlight, but she is now ready to return to the screen.

But it wasn’t all heavy heart-to-hearts.

Our insider added: “Cheryl was cracking jokes all day, and at one point briefly sang with fellow judge Kelly Rowland and later showed off her rapping skills.”

The Sun understands that in a bid to give back to her supporters, Cheryl has quietly handed out tickets to some of her biggest fans.

A source said: “All of the judges have their own guest list allocation.

“Cheryl has been using hers to thank some of her most loyal supporters for sticking with her over the years. It’s really quite sweet. She takes none of this for granted.”
