Rowe, 23, erupted after taking a painful knock from Arminia Bielefeld midfielder Stefano Russo.
Russo went steaming in and caught Rowe in the face with a full-blooded barge.
Rowe went down clutching his face before springing back up just as quickly, sprinting over to Russo and shoving him to the ground.
The referee had already shown his red card by the time Rowe squared up with Henri Koudossou, who had taken issue with the attack on Russo.
The pair exchanged pushes in front of the ref before Bologna stars stepped in to take Rowe away.
It was a surreal scene in a so-called ‘friendly’, with a furious Rowe spitting on the floor and undoing his hand wraps while storming off.
Arminia were already 3-0 up by the time the chaos kicked off in the 40th minute.
And they went on to win 4-0, despite the fact they play in ‘s second tier and Bologna were not far off securing European last campaign.
