Sudan head coach Kwesi Appiah is optimistic of a positive result in his side’s next game against Nigeria at the 2024 African Nations Championship, CHAN, DAILY POST reports.

Appiah’s side were held to a 1-1 draw by Congo Brazzaville in their opening fixture on Tuesday.

The Sudanese were close to securing maximum points from the game before conceding an equaliser late on.

Appiah has had to cope with injuries to some of his key players in the build up to the competition.

The Ghanaian has also complained about his team’s poor preparation for the biennial tournament.

Sudan will next face Nigeria in seven days time.

Appiah believes that the time will afford him the chance to prepare his team adequately.

“We have a week to prepare. That gives me a chance to adjust the team and improve things. We’ll work on our weaknesses and come back stronger against Nigeria.”
