Congo head coach, Barthelemy Ngatsono has confessed the home-based Super Eagles deserved to beat his team in Tuesday night’s Group D encounter at the 2024 African Nations Championship.

The East Africans lost 2-0 to Eric Chelle’s side in the game played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam.

Congo needed a win to guarantee a place in the quarter-finals but were unable to get past Eric Chelle’s men.

Both teams battled to a 0-0 draw in the first half but Anas Yusuf, and Sikiru Alimi netted for Nigeria in the second period.

Ngatsono’s side crashed out of the CHAN 2024 finals following the defeat.

The gaffer conceded the Home Eagles were too strong for his team.

“Nigeria were better prepared, and physically fit than us, so we couldn’t control the ball as well.

“Despite our good preparation before the match, we weren’t good as we planned,” he was quoted by CAFonline.
