The CIES Football Observatory has unveiled data on the fastest players in this season’s Champions League.

The study revealed the top contenders based on their maximum speed across five positional categories.

Leading the pack is Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon, who has clocked an impressive speed of 37.92 km/h, making him the fastest player in the tournament.

In the centre-back category, Manchester City’s Abdukodir Khusanov stands out with a top speed of 35.8 km/h, closely followed by Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven.

Among full-backs, PSG’s Achraf Hakimi leads at 36.4 km/h, alongside Nuno Mendes.

For central midfielders, Tottenham’s Archie Gray records a speed of 34.8 km/h, while Gordon also ranks at the top for wide midfielders/wingers.

Kylian Mbappé is not far behind, dominating the centre-forward category with a top speed of 35.7 km/h.

The report added that among all the players analyzed, three centre forwards—Kylian Mbappé (43.5%), Victor Osimhen (41.9%), and Luis Suárez (40.1%)—spent the highest percentage of their time running at speeds below 7 km/h.
