SHE famously sings about loving sex and being free, but this week Lizzo revealed she didn’t lose her virginity until after she won her first Grammy in 2020.
And the singer, now 37, is the only celebrity late bloomer who has waited until they are in their 30s for their first time. Here, we reveal which stars have spoken about their first time at an older age – including one A-list star who didn’t have sex until she was 35.

While ’s character in , Phoebe, goes on plenty of dates and even is mistaken for a porn star, the actress had not lost her virginity when the show first aired.
Lisa, also beloved for her role in Romy and Michelle, got married to her husband of 30 years in 1995.
The 62-year-old saved her ‘first time’ for her husband after they tied the knot, losing her virginity at age 31.
Lisa said: “I don’t know if you’d characterise me as uptight, but I understood what it is to be so afraid of sex—of your sexuality.
“For me it was just, ‘No, I’m saving myself because I have to make myself worthy of the kind of man I have in mind,’” she said in an interview .

The superstar waited until age 27 to have sex for the first time.
While Carrie, 43, keeps her relationship with husband Mike Fischer out of the spotlight, she confessed to Slate Magazine in 2007 that she was planning on remaining a virgin until marriage.
She married Mike in 2010 and welcomed her first of two sons, Isaiah, in 2015.

The singer and flute player the shocking age at which she actually lost her virginity and admitted she has “lied” about her sex life for years.
The 37-year-old confessed on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast with hosts Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky, and Kristin Batalucco recently that during her college days at the University of Houston, she pretended she’d already had sex, lying to her pals at a girls’ night.
Lizzo recalled the girls asking her if she was a virgin, but she said she threw them off the scent, saying, “I love the D.”
While she felt embarrassed at the time, they believed her.
The About Damn Time hitmaker made a pact with herself and said: “I promised myself when I was younger that I wouldn’t have sex until I won a Grammy.”
She bagged her first Grammy in 2020, at age 31. She lost her virginity in her 30s, and had her first kiss at age 21.
Adrianna Lima

As a Victoria’s Secret model, she’s oozes sex appeal.
But supermodel Adrianna Lima has always maintained that she was a virgin until she married NBA player Marko Jarić in 2009 at age 27.
“Sex is just for after marriage,” the world-famous underwear model told GQ in 2006.
She insisted that the men she dates have to “respect that this is my choice”.
“If there’s no respect, that means they don’t want me,” she added.
Adrianna and Marko divorced after seven years, and in 2016, she married Andre Lemmers, a film producer and CEO of MiLu Entertainment.
Rebel Wilson

The Pitch Perfect star recently confessed that she waited until age 35 to have sex. She lost her virginity to her How To Be Single co-star Mickey Gooch Jr.
In her memoir, Rebel Rising, she said that “not everybody has to lose their virginity as a teenager.”
The 44-year-old Australian actress, who married Ramona Agruma in Italy in 2024, said: “People can wait till they’re ready or wait till they’re a bit more mature.
“And I think that could be a positive message.
“You obviously don’t have to wait until you’re in your thirties like me, but you shouldn’t feel pressure as a young person.”
She admits to avoiding the topic of sex when she was younger after feeling “embarrassed”.

The TV star, best known for her role in the American sitcom Sister Sister, alongside her twin Tia , lost her virginity at age 29.
The former co-host of The Real and Twitches actress says her faith was a big reason why she waited.
“I don’t know how to explain this. I’m religious, so I waited until I was 29 to lose my virginity,” Tamera told HOT 97 in 2013.
“You may not understand this [but] I did it, then I felt guilty, then I became celibate until I got married.”
Tamera married her news anchor husband, Adam Housley, in 2011 at age 32.

Brooke Shields has been acting since before she turned one, and when she was 11, she famously starred as a child prostitute in the controversial period drama Pretty Baby.
For years, she was known a a “celebrated virgin” something she wrote about in her book There Was a Little Girl, and her 2023 documentary, Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields.
In 1985, the actress and model penned a coming-of-age manual for college-age girls titled ‘On Your Own,’ in which she confirmed that she was practising abstinence.
Two years later, when she was dating college boyfriend Dean Cain while attending Princeton University, she lost her virginity at age 22.
She admitted “the stakes were so unnaturally high” after putting off sex in her younger years – and it wasn’t quite the experience she had imagined.
She said: “When we finally had , I immediately ran out of the room, down the hall, butt naked, just running. I didn’t know where I was going.
“He ran after me with the duvet and grabbed hold of me.”
Shields said he calmed her down by reassuring her that she was the same person she was before and that nothing had changed.
“He got it instantly, and I just cried,” she added.
Brooke Shields has been married to television writer and producer Chris Henchy since 2001. The couple share two children.
Talking to your kids about sex

Knowing when to have ‘the talk’ with your kids is never easy. We have all been there.
It’s one of those tricky conversations that can feel uncomfortable or even awkward, given the adult nature of topics like ‘the birds and the bees.’
Starting the conversation early can help open the door to open dialogue between children and parents about topics like sexual health and pregnancy.
It allows children to feel more comfortable and less secretive as they grow. It’s all about creating a safe space.
That being said, it doesn’t mean you need to share every last gory detail immediately.
Books naturally spark children’s curiosity, making it easier to open up the conversation whilst allowing the parent to control how much you share depending on your child’s age or your family’s culture.
Reading is an invaluable tool for tackling difficult subjects – not just ‘the birds and the bees.’
