It was chef Elliott Grover in the kitchen rustling up the sweet goods, using a playful array of toppings – from white chocolate and popping candy to crumble, and maple bacon – to spruce up the apples.
And and Ben were quick to indulge, which led to a chipped tooth on Cat’s part.
The presenter realised the error after biting into one of the apples, despite a warning from Ben not to chip her tooth.
Cat then proceeded to feel her tooth with her tongue, aware that she’d chipped one of the front ones live on air.
Chef Elliott said: “It’s not too hard so it won’t damage your teeth. Be Careful.”
But it was too late, as Cat had already taken a bite and grimaced as she chipped it.
Ben saw Cat fiddling with her tooth and asked: “Has that tooth gone a bit wobbly? It’s alright, the tooth fairy will come.”
She later exclaimed: “I’ve chipped my tooth,” causing Ben to let out a huge laugh.
Ben joked: “The good news is, Bob Mortimer left us his dentist’s number so we can get you a set of dentures.”
Later in the show, Cat told another contributor about the chipping tooth fiasco and said it wasn’t the chipping that was the issue, but finding the time to fix it that she was concerned about.
The TV star returned to host after a break for summer, during which it was announced that she’d split from her husband.
