MANCHESTER UNITED has reportedly initiated discussions with Brighton regarding a £100 million transfer for Carlos Baleba this month.

The midfielder emerged as a significant target for the Red Devils last summer after establishing himself as a crucial player on the south coast.

However, United could not finalize a high-profile deal for Baleba, having already invested heavily in a new attacking lineup.

Nonetheless, it is believed that Ruben Amorim’s team has returned to pursue the 21-year-old in a new attempt.

This could result in Baleba exchanging the Amex Stadium for Old Trafford before the end of January.

Sky Sports reports that United are “evaluating the conditions” to acquire a new central midfielder this month.

They remain strong admirers of Baleba after pursuing him last summer.

Transfer officials are prepared to potentially finalize a club-record deal for the young talent this winter.

However, United might end up without a deal.

The report indicates that Brighton has no intention of selling Baleba, either this month or next summer.

They regard him as an integral part of their squad and aim to continue building around him in the future.

Baleba himself might be interested, having been intrigued by United’s interest last year.

It is believed that the Red Devils have three other Premier League midfielders on their radar as well.

The first is Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, who has become a key starter for England manager Thomas Tuchel since his transfer to the City Ground 18 months ago.
