PRIME Minister Andy Burnham came face-to-face with US President Trump for the first time on Tuesday at the UN General Assembly in New York.

Despite their political differences, a nervous Mr Burnham as Mr Trump hailed him as a “natural businessperson”.

But he took a slap from the US President over his continued support to give the Chagos Islands away to Mauritius.

Referring to the treaty, Trump told reporters at the General Assembly fringe meeting: “I don’t support it. I think it’s a terrible deal.”

Britain is now due to a lack of US support with multi-million pound payments to Mauritius on hold, Wes Streeting has since confirmed.
