Bayer Leverkusen's head coach, Kasper Hjulmand, has shared an update regarding Nathan Tella's injury.
Tella has been out of action since he suffered a knee injury while playing for the club in September.
The Nigeria international resumed training earlier this month and was anticipated to be available for selection soon.
However, the winger has not yet achieved full fitness.
Hjulmand disclosed that the injury turned out to be more severe than initially expected.
The coach remains optimistic that Tella will be ready to play following the upcoming international break.
“With [Nathan] Tella, [the injury] was more challenging and complicated than we first believed,” he was quoted by Werkself Extra as saying.
“I believe he’ll benefit from the international break as well. It’s improving, but I can’t specify when [he’ll return] exactly.”
Tella has participated in four matches across all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen this season.
