Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, on Monday, described the demise of former President Muhammadu Buhari as saddening, stressing that the ex-Nigerian leader lived a prudent and contented life.

While commiserating with President Bola Tinubu, Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina as well as the immediate family of the former President, Aiyedatiwa in a condolence message stated that the late Buhari was audacious and contented.

Buhari, who died on Sunday at 82 in a London hospital, served as Nigeria’s democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023, having previously ruled as a military head of state from January 1984 to August 1985

In the condolence message signed personally by Aiyedatiwa and titled President Buhari: A Patriot Exits The Stage, the governor maintained that the late former President was a man who was prudent and valued integrity.

He said: “Former president Buhari lived a fulfilled life. He was audacious, prudent, contented, strong-willed and compassionate.

“President Buhari was a man who valued his integrity and couldn’t hide his feelings. He was jocular and could make anyone smile even in difficult situations. This, he displayed when I, alongside other progressive governors, met him in Sokoto three months ago.”;
