A SOPHOMORE at Brown University has spoken out just hours after surviving a second mass shooting after gunfire broke out on campus on Saturday.

Zoe Weissman has been caught up in two deadly school shootings in the past seven years.

On Sunday morning, cops confirmed they after two people were killed and nine others injured.

Of the injured victims, seven are stable, one is critical but stable, and another has been discharged.

Back on Valentine’s Day in 2018, by crazed gunman and student who on those inside the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, 18 others were injured.

Weissman was tangled up in both of these horrifying events.

“I’m really angry. I’m really angry that this is happening to me all over again,” she told MS Now late on Saturday night while sheltering in her Brown dorm room.

“I’m just in shock. I think mentally I feel like I’m 12 again. This just feels like exactly how I felt in 2018.”

Her dorm is a couple of blocks away from the engineering building where the shooting took place, and she revealed that she and some friends were about to meet up to study for finals when a shooter alert was triggered.

“No one is safe from this,” she warned.

“There will be more people like me who have survived several school shootings.

“There’s already students who survived the school shooting in Oxford in Michigan, and then went to Michigan State and survived another school shooting,” she added.

The student called for officials to do more to tackle gun violence in the country other than send their thoughts and prayers.

Meanwhile, a Sunday morning press conference saw Providence authorities confirm a suspect is in custody and that the community can “breathe a sigh of relief”.

The identity of the suspect has not yet been revealed and it is not known if the person, believed to be a male, is affiliated in any way with Brown University.

Investigators were able to identify a person of interest less than 24 hours after the shooting when dozens of tips were called in late on Saturday night after cops released of the suspected gunman.

“The State of Rhode Island is in shock,” Governor Dan McKee said on Sunday morning.

“My thoughts are still centred on those individuals that have lost their lives and I’m praying families will find strength to deal with this.”

As the investigation continues, more updates are expected to be released in the coming hours.

All upcoming finals exams have been canceled at the university and resources are on campus for staff and students needing support.
