And he still walked away with the IBO Intercontinental title to add to his growing collection after a unanimous decision win.
Barney-Smith, whose flawless record now sits at 17-0, showed off his injury on social media after the fight.
The fighter’s hand was completely bandaged up in a cast as he looked nonchalantly into the camera.
Big things could be on the horizon for the super-featherweight, who wobbled Bellotti in the first round before seeing out the win.
And he has his eye on bigger and better fights once his hand heals up, with IBO champ Jono Carroll on his radar.
Barney-Smith said: “I want to set records and do things that haven’t been done.
“I love being the British champion but if a world title opportunity comes up then I would have no issues with taking that kind of fight now.
“There are some legendary world champions in this division, but I believe that I can mix it with the best and I will be amongst the stars in the future.”
