A BRIT tourist has been left fighting for his life after he was stabbed by a mugger who had stolen his friend’s phone at a popular holiday hotspot.

The 18-year-old good Samaritan was attacked after he caught up with the phone snatcher behind a bar at a holiday resort.

Chaos unfolded in the Las Veronicas area of the Playa de las Americas resort in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene, where the young tourist had been left in a “critical condition”.

He was and later admitted to an intensive care unit.

Police have not announced whether they have arrested anyone in relation to the violent stabbing; however, a specialist team has been deployed to identify and detain the knifeman.

A spokesperson from the regional government-run response coordination centre confirmed the horrific ordeal.

“An 18-year-old man has been seriously injured after being stabbed in Rafael Puig Lluvina Avenue in Playa de las Americas,” they said.

“The first emergency calls were received around 2.15am this morning.

“The victim was transferred to the Universitario Hospiten Sur Hospital after being stabilised at the scene.

According to local media outlet El Dia, the unnamed tourist chased a man who had “violently robbed” his female friend, stealing her phone.

The Sun understands he was attacked near a bar called Oasis.

The area where he was attacked is a with British holidaymakers.

The horror stabbing comes just days after another in Thailand while buying water.

The 22-year-old holidaymaker was knifed in the thigh during a row with a local shopper in the early hours of Friday morning in .

He had been purchasing a bottle of water when a 23-year-old is said to have barged into him inside the store.

The pair began arguing before the Thai man allegedly pulled out a knife and plunged it into the Brit’s right thigh.

Terrified shoppers fled as blood spewed from his leg.

He collapsed on the floor while quick-thinking assistants stemmed the bleeding and bystanders cornered the attacker in a nearby aisle.

The Thai suspect was detained inside the shop by nearby officers and paramedics gave the Brit first aid at the scene.

He was lying unconscious on the floor as blood streamed from his leg, before being wheeled out into an ambulance.

Cops said today the tourist later discharged himself from hospital and walked back to Pattaya’s notorious strip of bars.
