A TEEN bride took her own life after her groom’s family accused her of wearing a “provocative” and “shameful” wedding dress that showed her shoulders.

Lyaman Mammadli, 19, was found dead just days after her in-laws blasted her outfit as “too revealing” and said she looked “naked”.

The tragedy unfolded in Mingachevir, Azerbaijan, after what should have been the happiest day of her life turned into a nightmare.

Her devastated father, Murad Bayramov, said his daughter was left heartbroken after being humiliated by her husband’s family.

“My daughter’s groom and his parents caused a fight in my home because of her wedding dress,” he said.

“My daughter couldn’t bear it and took her own life.”

Lyaman was found hanging in the garden of her parents’ family home shortly after the argument.

The distraught dad told local media the fight broke out after the newlyweds returned from the wedding celebration.

He said the groom, Elnur Mamedli, 33, and his parents stormed into the house and began shouting over her gown.

“After the celebration, Elnur came to our home with his parents and caused a big argument,” he said.

“They said: ‘What a disgrace. How could you let your daughter wear such a shameful, revealing wedding dress?’”

Bayramov said he tried to defend his daughter, insisting the dress was “normal – the kind many brides wear”.

“But they wouldn’t calm down and kept arguing,” he said. “The dispute continued the next day…”

The groom’s family allegedly accused the teenager of “disgracing their son and family” with her appearance.

Her father said she was left distraught and “couldn’t endure it”.

“In her distress and emotional turmoil, she ended her life,” he said.

He also hit back at local reports suggesting his daughter had been pressured into marrying the older man.

“That’s completely untrue,” he said. “My daughter was not forced into marriage.”

Mammadli’s husband attended her funeral – but her father refused to let him or his relatives stay.

“He came to the funeral but I kicked them out,” Bayramov said. “I refused to let them stay.”

Police in Azerbaijan are now investigating whether to launch a criminal case over the alleged bullying that led to the bride’s death.

Although Lyaman’s religion has not been reported, Azerbaijan is a Muslim-majority nation, where conservative attitudes to women’s clothing remain common in some areas.

The shocking case has sparked anger across the region – coming just days after a similar controversy in neighbouring .

An adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Ali Shamkhani, caused public outrage after his daughter’s strapless wedding gown went viral online.

Footage showed Fatemeh Shamkhani walking arm-in-arm with her father at Tehran’s luxury Espinas Palace Hotel in a white dress with a low neckline.

The lavish ceremony was condemned as “hypocritical” by furious Iranians, who pointed out that ordinary women face arrest or violence for showing their hair or necks in public.
