A SEVEN-year-old boy has been left with serious injuries after he was mauled by a dangerously out-of-control XL Bully.
The youth was mauled by his own family’s dog in the kitchen of his home.
On Monday South Yorkshire Police received 15 calls warning them of a dog dangerously out-of-control which had reportedly bitten someone.
Cops raced to the scene at around 8pm to discover that a boy, aged 7, had suffered serious injuries after being attacked by the family dog.
The registered XL Bully is understood to have lunged at the youth, injuring his neck so severely that he required surgery.
The XL Bully has since been seized by cops.
South Yorkshire Police said in a statement: “We understand the joy that pets bring to a home, and a child’s life, but as the school holidays are underway and children are spending more time at home and visiting friends, family and local parks, we are continuing to urge parents and owners to act.
“Any dog of any breed can bite and cause harm or fear.
“It is important that you understand your dog, it’s behaviour and ensure it has a safe space where it can be alone.”
