He has been released on conditional bail and will appear at Nottingham Youth Court on July 13.

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said: “A teenage boy accused of sexually assaulting a woman on a bus has been charged.

“The victim was travelling through Nottingham when she was both sexually and physically assaulted.

“This happened around 5.45pm on 2 January, with the woman then getting off the bus and reporting what happened.

“Detectives launched an investigation in the aftermath of the incident and have now managed to charge a juvenile suspect with sexual assault and assault by beating.

“The 15-year-old boy, who can’t be named for legal reasons, has been released on conditional bail, ahead of an appearance at Nottingham Youth Court on 13 July.

“One of these conditions is for the teenager to not ride on public transport without a responsible adult, unless when travelling to or from school.”

Detective Constable Paul Henson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The victim was understandably left extremely shaken up and upset by this offence.

“Our hope is that news of these charges and the suspect’s upcoming attendance in court brings her some small degree of comfort and reassurance.”
