Boy, 16, dies at Barry Island Pleasure Park with fairground brought to standstill & cops launching probe

A TEENAGE boy has died after suffering a “medical episode”;; at an amusement park in South Wales. Barry Island Pleasure Park.

The 16-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene Barry Island Pleasure Park on Friday evening.

Cops said they were called to the park at just before 5pm and the patient was being treated by paramedics.

An air ambulance was also deployed.

A force spokesperson said: “We were called just before 5pm this evening, Friday May 23, with a report of a 16-year-old teenage boy suffering a medical episode in Barry Island Pleasure Park.

“Despite efforts of emergency services, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances of the death.

“Anyone who was in Barry Island Pleasure Park around the time of the incident that may have information that could assist our investigation is asked to contact us by one of the following means quoting 2500163611.”;;

A spokesperson for Barry Island Pleasure Park has confirmed that despite yesterday’s tragedy the site will reopen today at 12pm.

The park said in a statement today: “Very sad news yesterday all of our team did their best to assist the emergency services but unfortunately the boy suffered a medical emergency and couldn’t be saved.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this very sad time. Park remains open this morning 11m as usual.”;;
