However, the fight coincidentally falls on the same week that his girlfriend Rebecca – with whom he has an 18-month-old daughter named Mila – is expected to give birth.
Rodriguez shared with SunSport in Riyadh: “We anticipated that our fight would occur a day after his birth, so I was urging my girlfriend to hold him in as long as she could!”
“But just before I came here, they mentioned that he might arrive either tonight or tomorrow. At the end of the day, this is all for them.”
“Before I had children, it was all about me, but now that I have two kids, it’s all about them. This is my motivation.”
“I need to provide food for their plates, toys for their playpen, and other essentials.”
“Winning fights like this will lead to bigger paydays, and that’s what matters most – providing for my family.”
Rodriguez, 25, stated that the news of his growing family has further motivated him ahead of his fight with Argentine Martinez, 34.
David Benavidez vs Anthony Yarde - all the info
Will it be third time lucky?!
The British star is eager to finally secure world champion status after two previous unsuccessful attempts – but he’ll need to overcome WBC lightweight title holder, David Benavidez.
Yarde’s first boxing setback occurred in 2019 when he lost a WBO title bout to Sergey Kovalev.
The British power puncher then suffered an eighth-round stoppage in his title clash four years later.
However, since then, Yarde has achieved four consecutive wins, which has ultimately earned him a shot against the undefeated.
