Credit: THE SUNMANCHESTER CITY will aim to bounce back from a miserable weekend defeat when they travel to Bodo/Glimt for Tuesday’s Champions League clash.
Bodo/Glimt vs Man City preview
Manchester City head to the Arctic Circle this week for a tricky Champions League encounter with Norwegian outfit Bodo/Glimt.
The Citizens can expect temperatures of around -2°C when they step out on Bodo’s artificial surface on Tuesday, and will need to turn on the burners if they are to come away with maximum points.
Pep Guardiola’s side arrive on the back of a disappointing 2-0 defeat to arch-rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford, with several players well below their best.
Guardiola admitted City were “predictable” and lacked “energy” in that loss, but they will need to rediscover both quickly to maintain their grip on a crucial top-eight finish.
City currently sit fourth in the League Phase with 13 points from six matches, but with two games remaining there is a cluster of sides within striking distance – all eager to avoid the play-off round.
Their task has been complicated by team news, with new signing Antoine Semenyo unavailable and Bernardo Silva suspended. Phil Foden is an injury doubt, while Josko Gvardiol, John Stones, Oscar Bobb, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Dias, Nico Gonzalez and Matheus Nunes all remain sidelined.
That said, there are still reasons for optimism.
Bodo/Glimt are winless in six European meetings with English opposition (D1 L5) and have conceded at least twice in five of those matches, shipping 14 goals in total – including two or more in each of the last four.
The Norwegian champions also boast the highest expected goals against figure in this season’s Champions League (17.2) and have not played a competitive match since a 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund on December 12 – a 39-day lay-off.

Chaos
Goals should be on the menu at the Aspmyra Stadion on Tuesday, so we’re backing over 3.5 goals at 20/23 with Betfair.
As mentioned, there are rarely any quiet nights involving Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League. Five of their six matches in this season’s competition have gone over 3.5 goals, while 11 of their last 12 European league-phase games have seen both teams find the net.
The Norwegian side have also conceded at least twice in five of their six meetings with English opposition in major European competition, shipping 14 goals in total — including two or more in each of the last four.
To add to that, Bodo/Glimt boast the highest expected goals against figure (17.2) of any team in the Champions League this season.

Double
We’re backing Manchester City striker Erling Haaland at 2/1 to score 2+ goals with William Hill’s enhanced goalscorer market.
As mentioned, Bodo/Glimt’s defence has been poor in this competition, while Haaland has scored in each of his last six Champions League starts.
He has 55 UCL goals in 54 games – more than all Norwegian sides combined since 2000-01 – and could become the first Norwegian to score against a Norwegian team in the competition.
