SHAKHTAR DONETSK owner Rinat Akhmetov has splurged over £400MILLION on a breathtaking Monaco apartment.

Akhmetov, 59, is the richest person in with an estimated net worth of £5.8billion.

And he has committed a hefty chunk of that fortune to one of the most expensive residential property purchases in human history.

The mega five-story complex features 21 rooms, a private pool, a jacuzzi and ‘at least eight parking spaces’, according to A Bola .

It spans almost 27,000 square feet – not bad in the exclusive Le Portier district, where property costs a dizzying £5,700 per square foot on average.

Snaps of Akhmetov’s new £408m pad show a towering complex complete with stunning views of the Mediterranean.

Akhmetov already owns a massive £173m mansion just down the road in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat on the French Riviera.

But this new purchase will give him somewhere comfortable to crash after a day out in the Principality.

Akhmetov founded Ukraine‘s largest industrial conglomerate, System Capital Management, in 2000.

And he has been the owner and president of Ukrainian club Shakhtar since 1996.

Shakhtar are enjoying a fine season, with a 5-2 aggregate win over Dutch side AZ Alkmaar securing their spot in the semi-finals.

stand between Shakhtar and the final, with the first leg pencilled in for next week.

Akhmetov turned up to watch the home leg against AZ earlier this month.

It remains to be seen whether he jets into Selhurst Park – or prefers to kick back in his new half-billion-euro dwelling.
