Sesko, 22, has netted only twice in ten appearances for United since his £74 million transfer in July.
Berbatov advised him: “Have confidence in yourself. Be assertive in a way that you demand the ball from your teammates when you make a run.
“When you make a good run and the ball doesn’t come your way, express it in a way that your teammates will understand.
“Sometimes, show your frustration. Yell, swear at him, whatever it takes. Not personally, but in a way that conveys, ‘I’m here, man. Just give me the ball. I will try to score for you.’
“At half-time, before the game, or after the game, communicate. Be emotional. ‘Pass me the damn ball, man!’
Be assertive with your teammates. You don’t always have to be polite and act like best friends.”
Berbatov has experienced the highs and lows of Old Trafford during his four-year tenure at United.
He was the club's record signing upon his arrival from Tottenham for £30.75 million in 2008.
However, he didn’t win over many fans until he scored 20 goals in the Premier League during the 2010-11 season.
On the Presents podcast, Berbatov advised Sesko to steer clear of the “cycle of negativity” that has affected previous signings.
Berbatov, 44, stated: “You’ll go home after missing a goal, keep thinking about it, and dig a hole for yourself.
“Then that vicious cycle of negativity traps you, and it’s hard to escape.
“I am cautiously optimistic. He’s a big, strong player; he can run, cover space, and hold the ball well.
“The goals I saw him score at his previous club were remarkable.”
Sesko scored 21 goals in all competitions for Leipzig last season and 18 in the current 2023-24 campaign.
He was one of three forwards who joined this summer, alongside Cunha and Mbeumo.
Cunha, who cost £62.5 million, has scored once, while £70 million signing Mbeumo has netted five in all competitions, including a brace against Brighton in the last match.
