Along with Michael Alleyne, they were sentenced to life in prison in 2009, with a minimum of 19 years, for the murder.
Ben, who was just 16, was fatally stabbed in Islington, North London, in June 2008 while celebrating the end of his school year.
It has come to light that Kika, now 35, was recommended for transfer to an open prison by the Parole Board in June.
He has since been moved to a low-security facility in anticipation of a possible release, which has been confirmed.
A parole panel is scheduled to decide whether Braithwaite, now 36, should be granted a similar transfer at a hearing on November 27.
A spokesperson for the Parole Board stated that any decisions are made solely based on “what risk a prisoner could represent to the public.”
Alleyne, now 34, has not yet been considered for parole and remains incarcerated.
Brooke Kinsella, who portrayed Kelly Taylor in the soap until 2004, established an anti-knife crime charity in 2008.
She previously remarked about the charity: “We’ve worked diligently to make a difference.”
The Kinsella family is believed to be aware of these developments.
The Ben Kinsella Trust has chosen not to comment.
