BBC Radio 2 presenter Reverend Kate Botley was pulled off air this morning after struggling to present due to illness.
The star co-presents the Good Morning Sunday show on the station alongside Jason Mohammad, who was forced to present solo after Kate’s swift departure.
“Now, if you’re just joining us, you will know the Reverend K. Bodley usually starts talking at this point of the show. But unfortunately, if you’ve been listening since six, you will know that she’s been a little poorly,” he announced an hour into the show.
“So what we’ve done is we have sent her home, so she’s gone home to get some rest.
“And before she left, she wanted to say a big thank you for all the love and lovely, gorgeous messages that you’ve been sending. So thank you so much.
“So she’s gone home to rest and recover and recuperate, because, God bless her, her voice was really struggling this morning,” Jason added.
He concluded: “So, Reverend Kate, we are sending love and strength and power across the radio airwaves today. So get well soon.”
In an post shared hours after the show, confirmed that she had the flu and was very much resting up at home.
“52 and freshers flu,” her caption began, shared alongside a snap of her on the sofa in a BBC hoodie.
“Shout out to my @bbcradio2 family for sending me home this morning. After 50 minutes on air it became apparent I was no use to anyone. So many lovely messages from our lovely listeners.
“The always splendid @mrjasonmohammad and wonderful @jennysmithuk for being THE BEST humans.
“I’m now on the sofa with the dog, some hot Vimto, wearing my comfies,” she added.
Kate, who is a ordained vicar, also revealed that she was set to lead two christenings today but had to withdraw due to her current ill health.
“Apologies too to the families of the two babies I should have been Christening today,” she penned. “You would not thank me for giving this to your precious children.
“See you on the other side,” she signed off. “I never get ill #ill #sofa #radio2.”
“Sending get well vibes to you,” wrote one fan in the comments section as her followers sent well wishes amid her illness.
Kate Bottley rose to fame after appearing with her husband on Gogglebox in 2014 and stayed for five series.
Her last Gogglebox appearance was in 2016 as she took time to focus on other TV projects and family life.
Since February 2018, she has presented Good Morning Sunday with Jason and has also presented Prayer for the Day on BBC Radio 4.
