The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission (CSC) has taken disciplinary action against four senior officers due to serious misconduct in their professional duties.
This information was shared in a statement released to journalists in Bauchi on Friday by Saleh Umar, the Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission.
He explained that this decision, made during the Commission's plenary session, underscores its ongoing commitment to maintaining high standards within the State Civil Service.
The officers who faced sanctions include Garba Hussaini, a Director of Education and former Provost, and Haruna Umar, a Deputy Director of Administration and Human Resources.
Additionally, the list includes Umar Yusuf, Chief Executive Officer (Accounts) – Bursar, and Mohammed Usman, Chief Clerical Officer – Cashier, both from the Bill and Melinda Gates College of Health Sciences Technology in Ningi Local Government Area.
Umar mentioned that the suspended officers will receive 50 percent of their salaries starting from October 28, 2025, while a comprehensive investigation is conducted.
“The Commission’s decision was made to facilitate further investigation into the allegations against these officers,” he stated.
“The officers were found to have committed acts of misconduct in violation of Bauchi State Public Service Regulations 0327 (x) and (xxii) and were suspended under rules 0329 (i), (ii), and (iii) to ensure they are removed from their duty posts for an effective investigation.”
“In a positive development, the Commission has promoted 21 officers to higher ranks including Deputy Chief Librarian, Assistant Chief Librarian, and Principal Librarian at grade levels 15, 14, 13, 12, and 10 respectively.
“Others promoted include Assistant Chief Executive Officer and Chief Confidential Secretary at grade levels 13 and 14,” Umar added.
The Public Relations Officer further noted that Dr. Ibrahim Muhammad, Chairman of the Commission, reaffirmed its strong commitment to due process under his leadership.
He stated that the Chairman emphasized the importance of integrity, transparency, and fairness while expressing concern about the negligent attitude of some civil servants who are unaware of disciplinary procedures and their repercussions.
“The Chairman encouraged all employees to familiarize themselves with the rules and regulations of the service in order to perform their duties effectively and avoid unnecessary violations,” he concluded.
