Governor Bala Mohammed has expressed his sorrow over the death of Brigadier-General (Rtd) Abu Ali, the former Military Administrator of Bauchi State.

This information is included in a statement signed by Mukhtar Gidado, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, on Monday.

“On behalf of my family, the government, and the wonderful people of Bauchi State, we mourn the loss of General Abu Ali,” the governor stated.

General Abu Ali held the position of Military Administrator for Bauchi State from September 1990 to January 1992.

During his tenure, he oversaw the commissioning of the Bauchi Township Water Project, supported the Tomato Processing Company, and established the Wikki Tourists Football Club.

In response to ethno-religious violence in 1991, General Abu Ali “took decisive action to restore peace by imposing a curfew and deploying security forces,” according to the statement.

He also transitioned power peacefully to a democratically elected government in January 1992, demonstrating “respect for democratic governance.”

Following his military service, he became the Etsu Bassa Nge, a first-class traditional ruler in Kogi State from 2000, gaining national recognition for his leadership, wisdom, and cultural pride.

Governor Bala Mohammed commended the late general’s character: “The late General Abu Ali was renowned for his humility, integrity, and commitment. His life exemplified service to his soldiers, the people of Bauchi, and his cultural community.”

He extended his condolences to the family, especially his children, and the people of Bassa Nge Kingdom, urging residents of Bauchi to pray for the family and for the peaceful repose of General Abu Ali’s soul.

“May the legacy of Brigadier-General (Rtd.) Abu Ali continue to inspire us all as a servant-leader, visionary, and a man of courage and compassion,” the governor concluded.
