Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has announced a work-free day on Friday, November 28, 2025, throughout the state to pay tribute to the late Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.

According to DAILY POST, Bala Mohammed previously reported the death of the esteemed Islamic scholar and spiritual leader, who passed away in the early hours of Thursday at the age of 102.

Our correspondent learned that the respected cleric died on Wednesday night at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi. His remains have been transported to the family home on Gombe Road, where funeral prayers are set to take place later today.

The announcement stated that the work-free day has been designated to enable government employees, students, followers, and the general public to attend the funeral prayers and pay their final respects.

The funeral prayer is scheduled for tomorrow in accordance with Islamic traditions.

The governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, commented in a statement: “This decision serves as a tribute to the late Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, whose life and contributions to Islamic scholarship, Qur’anic education, spiritual guidance, and the promotion of peace and unity have profoundly influenced Nigeria and beyond.”

The government has also encouraged citizens to join in prayers for the peaceful repose of Sheikh Bauchi’s soul and to provide support and comfort to his family, students, and followers.

“May the soul of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi find eternal peace. Ameen,” the statement concluded.
