Councillors and Imam Abducted by Bandits in Zamfara, Confirms LG Chairman

The Chairman of Maradun LGA in Zamfara State, Hon. Sanusi Gama Giwa, has confirmed the kidnapping of two active councillors and an imam during an assault in the Tsauni community, located in Gusau, the state capital.

In a statement he personally authored, he mentioned that the councillors, representing the Gidan Goga and Tsibiri wards in the Maradun Local Government Area, were allegedly taken around 8:05 PM on Wednesday, close to a police outpost, shortly after completing the Maghrib prayers.

He reported that the victims were unwinding with others at a tea spot when the armed assailants struck, stating: “It occurred right in front of a police station where officers are typically present. The bandits even seized phones from the police officers without facing any resistance. They did not harm anyone.”
