Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has reacted to winger Lamine Yamal finishing in second place behind Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele in the 2025 Ballon d’Or rankings.
Flick spoke ahead of Barcelona’s La Liga clash with Oviedo on Thursday.
On Monday, Dembele won this year’s Ballon d’Or ahead of Mbappe, who finished in third place.
The France international claimed the prize after an impressive 2024/25 campaign for PSG.
The 28-year-old secured all the major trophies last season, including the UEFA Super Cup, Ligue 1 and the UEFA Champions League.
Speaking about Yamal’s second-place finish, Flick insisted that it was a motivation for the Spain international to win it in the coming years.
“It’s a motivation for him in the coming years, and Lamine takes it positively,” Flick was quoted by Fabrizio Romano as saying.
“He will have chances to win the Ballon d’Or, for sure.”
