A BABYSITTER accused of sexually assaulting a two-year-old has tried to claim a video of the alleged abuse has been “blown out of proportion”.

At the hearing, her lawyer, Marissa Koerner, said the stomach-churning 14-second Snapchat video shows an “innocent moment” rather than a crime, according to a report by the Asbury Park Press .
Koerner said: “Anyone who has spent time caring for young children understands that children often have little appreciation for personal space or privacy.
“Young children routinely follow parents or caregivers into bathrooms, touch things, ask questions, are curious and fail to recognize ordinary social boundaries.
“Children often engage in funny, spontaneous or strange behavior that adults record because the moment is memorable or humorous.

“The video has been blown out of proportion.”
Ocean County Judge Kenneth Palmer responding by calling the footage “bizarre” and “troubling”.
The footage of the alleged assault was recovered on a phone gifted to Cranmer by her former roommate, according to court docs.
The roommate, identified as Ms. P in the arrest affidavit, discovered the video when she kicked Cranmer out of the house.
Ms. P shared the footage with police who quickly launched an investigation.
Cranmer was soon arrested after cops recognised a distinct tattoo, including one on her leg depicting breasts.
Her voice was also clearly audible in the footage, police added.
Cops were told that Cranmer looked after Ms P’s daughter and the young boy of another woman known as Ms. H.

Ms. H claimed she had noticed her son acting out of character and shying away from the bathtub after spending time with Cranmer.
She later learned the babysitter would take baths with her son, according to the affidavit.
Several other videos of Cranmer and her alleged victim in the bathroom were also found on the phone, court documents seen by NK News revealed.
She shared at least one of her videos to Snapchat, prosecutors said.
Cranmer has been charged with manufacturing of child sexual abuse material, and sexual assault and possession of the material and endangering.
Judge Palmer ruled Cranmer will be held without bail over the “troubling” allegations stemming from May 6, in Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey.
