Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi will play no part in Nigeria’s upcoming friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique due to injury.
Awoniyi suffered a groin injury in training with his club this week which could see him sidelined for up to a month.
Forest manager Steve Cooper confirmed the forward’s injury ahead of his side’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The 26-year-old, who joined the Tricky Trees from Bundesliga side, Union Berlin, last summer, has evolved into a key figure at the club.
Awoniyi scored in all three of Forest’s opening Premier League matches this season.
Nigeria has friendlies lined up against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique, on October 13 and October 16, respectively.
