An asylum seeker accused of murdering a worker at a migrant hotel was seen “enjoying himself” with friends just hours after the incident, a court was informed yesterday.
Housing officer Tyler English stated that Sudan-born Deng Chol Majek had appeared “downcast” and “lost in thought” prior to the attack, seemingly gazing at where Rhiannon Skye Whyte, 27, was employed last October.

Mr. English remarked: “Typically, during that time, I check on the morale of everyone present.
“That’s when I noticed he was not in the best of spirits, so I asked, ‘Are you okay?’ but received no reply.”
He continued: “His mood was notably low.
“He almost seemed sorrowful.”
Majek is accused of following her after her shift concluded at 11 PM, armed with a screwdriver on an isolated train platform in Walsall, West Midlands.
Mr. English hurried to the scene upon her discovery, and upon his return, he observed Majek listening to music in the car park of the Park Inn hotel.
He added: “His demeanor had certainly improved.”
Ms. Whyte succumbed to her injuries in the hospital on October 23, 2024 – roughly 60 hours after the assault.
Majek, reportedly 19, denies the allegations.
The trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court is ongoing.
