The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Committee in Kano, has urged the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to explore alternative peaceful methods for resolving its ongoing conflict with the Federal Government, rather than resorting to another strike.
In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by its Public Relations Officer, Comrade Muddassir Hamza Dankaka, the student organization emphasized that repeated strikes continue to significantly harm ordinary Nigerian students who are already facing economic difficulties and erratic academic schedules.
Led by Comrade Yunus Halliru, the association expressed that students bear the brunt of the consequences whenever classrooms are closed.
“Ongoing strike actions disproportionately affect the children of ordinary Nigerian students,” the statement remarked.
It highlighted that each disruption sets them back further and exacerbates the challenges they strive to overcome daily.
NANS JCC Kano called on ASUU and the Federal Government to engage in open dialogue, sincere negotiation, and responsible decision-making that prioritizes the future of young Nigerians.
The group emphasized that students should not be made victims of conflicts they did not instigate.
“Students must not become collateral damage in disputes they did not create,” the statement concluded.
