ASTON VILLA aims to strengthen their Premier League title ambitions as they welcome Manchester United on Sunday.

Aston Villa vs Man Utd Preview

All eyes will be on Villa Park as Aston Villa takes on Manchester United in the only Premier League match on Sunday, marking the last game before Christmas.

This encounter promises to be exciting, as Unai Emery’s squad seeks to affirm their title ambitions.

No team in the Premier League is currently in better form than Aston Villa, who have achieved victory in their last six league matches and nine across all competitions, netting 22 goals in that period.

In fact, only Manchester City (46) has earned more home Premier League points in 2025 than Villa (40), while the Villans have suffered the fewest home defeats of any consistently present team (1).

Their most recent win – a thrilling comeback against West Ham, where they rallied from behind twice – propelled Villa into third place, just three points behind leaders Arsenal after 16 matches.

Despite this progress, bookmakers remain skeptical, listing Emery’s team at 28/1 to claim the title – odds that Villa will be eager to challenge.

However, to do so, they must improve their performance in this matchup.

Villa has secured just one victory in their last 26 Premier League home encounters against Manchester United (D9 L16), while the visitors have tallied 41 Premier League wins against the Villans, with 18 of those victories occurring at Villa Park.

For Manchester United, their season of missed opportunities continued with a chaotic 4-4 draw against Bournemouth earlier this week.

The Red Devils currently sit sixth in the table but may feel they should be positioned higher, having already dropped 10 points from winning positions this season – just one less than they did throughout the entire 2024–25 campaign.

That said, they have only suffered one defeat in their last 10 matches, won their last two away league games, and scored at least twice in each of their last five away Premier League matches.
