ARSENAL welcome newly-promoted Leeds United to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, with both sides looking to make it two wins from two in the Premier League.
Arsenal vs Leeds preview
Arsenal and Leeds go head-to-head at the Emirates on Saturday, with both sides chasing back-to-back wins to start the new Premier League campaign.
The Gunners edged past Manchester United in a scrappy opening-day encounter at Old Trafford, profiting from a goalkeeping blunder by Altay Bayindir.
Despite taking all three points, Mikel Arteta’s side were far from their best – allowing 22 shots, producing just 0.28 expected goals from open play, and generally struggling to impose themselves.
Still, maximum points are all that matter at this stage, and Arsenal will be eager to shift through the gears as they aim to improve on three consecutive third-place finishes.
And on paper, a home clash against newly-promoted Leeds looks like the perfect opportunity to build momentum.

The hosts are heavy favourites at 2/7, and history is firmly on their side. Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 14 meetings with Leeds in all competitions (W12 D2), winning the last six in a row. They’re also unbeaten in 42 straight Premier League home games against promoted clubs (W37 D5), and avoiding defeat here would equal the longest such run in the competition’s history.
But Leeds won’t be short on confidence.
They opened their top-flight return with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Everton at Elland Road, thanks to a debut goal from Lukas Nmecha. The stats were equally impressive: 21 shots, 2.13 xG, and zero expected goals conceded from open play – albeit against a lacklustre Everton attack.
That win extended Leeds’ run to seven consecutive victories in all competitions, with five clean sheets along the way.

Assist
It’s tough to draw too many conclusions from Arsenal’s win over Manchester United, but one clear positive was the performance of Martin Odegaard.
The 26-year-old Norwegian registered the most touches in the opposition penalty area and the highest expected assists (xA) of any Arsenal player – no surprise given he created 63 chances and notched 12 assists in the Premier League last season.
And when it comes to Leeds United, he has form. Odegaard has provided three assists in five appearances against the Yorkshire club, winning all five by a combined score of 15-5.

Caution
We’re backing Leeds winger Wilfried Gnonto to find his way into the referee’s notebook at the Emirates on Saturday.
The 21-year-old Italian isn’t afraid to get stuck in – and he’s got the disciplinary record to prove it. During his last Premier League campaign, Gnonto picked up six yellow cards in 24 appearances – an average of one every four games.
He was heavily involved against Everton on Monday, recording five tackles, two interceptions, and a recovery, showing his defensive contribution.
With Arsenal likely to dominate possession, expect Gnonto to spend plenty of time tracking back and challenging – a recipe that could easily see him add to his career total of 41 bookings in 241 professional appearances.
