ARGENTINA fans blocked from travelling to the World Cup have been offered an unusual consolation prize.

Dozens of gutted supporters were denied US visas ahead of the tournament in North America.

While they are sure to miss out on and co in person, some will now be watching from home on flash new TVs.

Argentine electronics company Newsan launched a promotion offering free Noblex TVs to fans who could prove they had been refused entry to the US.

The firm invited the first 100 supporters with denied visa applications to turn up at its Buenos Aires office and swap their heartbreak for a new TV.

Their campaign came with the blunt slogan: “Give us your denied visa and take a free TV.”

Pictures showed fans posing with their new boxes, stamped with stickers that read ‘visa denied’ and ‘TV Noblex approved’.

The reigning world champions head into the 2026 World Cup with Messi expected to make his final appearance on football’s biggest stage.

That has made tickets and travel plans feel even more precious for fans desperate to see the superstar have one last dance on the international stage.

But for some, the dream trip has ended before have even kicked a ball.

Professional video game player Tomas Vageller, 24, said to Reuters : “I went to get a visa because we all think it will be Messi’s last World Cup.

“It’s very sad ​I won’t be ​able to ⁠see it, but well, I’m leaving with a gift.”

Argentina will kick off against Algeria in their opening game in the early hours of Wednesday in Kansas City.
