APC will not be divided by defections – Dalori

Published on July 01, 2025 at 10:55 AM

The Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ali Bukar Dalori, has said that the ruling party remains united and will not be shaken by the wave of defections into its ranks.

Speaking in an interview with the BBC, Dalori dismissed concerns that the continuous admission of defectors could lead to internal crisis within the APC.

“There is nothing to worry about. Those who are defecting to our party know that in their former parties, they won’t get what they want. They believe in APC because they know they will get something here and APC delivers.”;

He added that the party is strong and cannot be divided.

“APC can’t get disunited because we are united,”; he said confidently.

He also spoke about his plans to strengthen the party, saying he would personally take part in reconciliation efforts to resolve differences at all levels of the party.

“It is a must for me to stand up and show politicians that I have tried my best. Whether at the state, local, or ward level, I will meet with them myself or send a delegation to sit with them. Politics is about the people, about sitting with chairmen and helping them understand what they don’t.”;

Dalori further pledged the party’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, saying that helping Nigerians understand the president’s policies is a top priority.

“President Tinubu’s agenda is what we are working on. It is our duty to support him and show people that his strategies are working and are in their best interest.”;

When asked about the recent incident in Gombe, the acting chairman dismissed it as a normal part of politics, adding that APC remains focused on unity and progress.

He also noted that a decision on whether the party’s end-of-year meeting would hold is yet to be made, as consultations with key stakeholders are still ongoing.
