Promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed their plan for a July tune-up before fighting Fury, 37, later in the year.
Hearn told SunSport: “Given what’s happened in the last couple of months, I think that it’s gonna be very difficult physically to move at that pace to go straight into a big fight like that because we really need to know that he’s mentally and physically ready for that kind of moment.
“So it was always our plan to fight first and Fury had 12 rounds against Makhmudov.
“It’s a big, big advantage to get to bank those rounds and get that rust off. It would be our preference to do the same.”
