ANNA FRIEL will be back on our screens, and it’s about time.
She is in new psychological thriller The Heights, and judging by this first glimpse, the show is packed with intrigue and tension.
Anna is protective mother Ellen, whose life is turned upside down by a wayward outsider.
Newcomer Kit Redding plays her son Luca, who brings a disruptive friend into their lives and rocks the family’s foundations.
Kieran, played by actor Conrad Khan, is rude, reckless and manipulative, leading Lucas astray.
Ellen and Kieran are locked in a dramatic face-off in one intense scene as they both go for a swim, leaving us to wonder whether their relationship crosses boundaries.
It is first major series since Marcella ended in 2019.
She said: “Really excited to be diving into this world.
“We have such a strong creative team.
“And I hope we make something moving and entertaining.”
The six-parter later this year jumps between the past and present, with family secrets and lies unravelling throughout.
It is based on the Louise Candlish novel and DCI Banks actor Stephen Tompkinson and Mark Stobbart also feature.
