The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially announced the re-election of Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his deputy, Onyekachukwu Ibezim, by presenting them with their certificates of return on Tuesday.
The certificates were presented in Awka by Kenneth Ikeagu, the INEC Supervising National Commissioner for Anambra State, just two days after Soludo and Ibezim were declared the winners of the governorship election held on November 8.
During the presentation, Ikeagu stated, “Section 72(1) of the Electoral Act 2022 requires INEC to issue a certificate of return within 14 days to every candidate duly declared by the returning officer."
“In adherence to this regulation, it is my privilege to present the certificates of return to the Governor and Deputy Governor-elect, who triumphed in the election.”

The Returning Officer, Edoba Omoregie, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, announced that Soludo received 422,664 votes, successfully winning in all 21 local government areas.
