Ahead of the November 8 governorship election in Anambra state, the Action Alliance, AA, candidate, Jeff Nweke, has issued a stern warning against vote-buying, describing it as harmful to Nigeria’s democratic development.

Nweke said this in a statement on Thursday in Awka, the state capital.

While speaking against the backdrop of the August 16 Anambra by-election allegedly marred by vote- buying, Nweje tasked Nigerians of good conscience to rise to unite in condemning the cankerworm or risk losing their future.

The AA chieftain said commercialisation of votes is the root cause of corruption that has eaten deep into the fabric of society, and is breeding other forms of evil bedeviling the nation.

“It is unfortunate and shameful in Anambra today, that what we are witnessing is an acute decay of decency in our politics.

“It is a degeneration of sensible political strategy and we have become self- centered, narrow minded and morally deficient in the pursuit of our political goals,” he said.

He further explained that he would continue to focus his campaigns on key issues such as security, social amenities, welfare, and accountability.
