Reports indicate that a person has been fatally shot in the Owerre Ezukala community, located in the Orumba South Local Government Area, during the ongoing gubernatorial election in Anambra State.

According to sources, the victim, who served as a councillor in the area, was shot by unidentified gunmen at Owerre Ezukala Ward 1 while he was attempting to cast his vote.

A Facebook user, Iyke Orji, stated: “While voting in Owerre Ezukala Ward 1, unknown gunmen arrived and shot a prominent individual before fleeing. The councillor of Owerre Ezukala was critically injured by the assailants.”

When DAILY POST contacted the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, he mentioned that he had not received any reports regarding the incident.

“In fact, the state has been peaceful overall, and the atmosphere remains calm. There are no incidents of violence in the state that I’m currently aware of,” the police spokesman remarked.
