This was an awkward moment when a Strictly joke fell flat, leaving Claudia Winkleman speechless.

They attempted to replicate former contestant La Voix’s gag but did not receive the response they anticipated.

The dance partners were asked by host Claudia if they were ready to "roll on the river," referencing their upcoming performance of "Proud Mary."

However, the distracted duo seemed more interested in passing the spotlight back to Claudia’s co-host.

They both pointed to the camera and said “Tess” – mimicking La Voix’s handover to Claudia.

Claudia, however, looked unamused and maintained a straight face as the other Strictly stars laughed awkwardly.

“Nikita and Amber are now trying to take Claudia’s job too,” chuckled one viewer.

“That was so awkward,” remarked another.

Strictly fans have frequently criticized the judges for under-scoring Amber, who is a trained dancer.

The Love Island star began her theatrical journey at a local stage school in the coastal town of Rhyl, Denbighshire, before earning a scholarship at London’s esteemed Urdang Academy at the age of 16.

The college, now part of City St George’s, University of London, specializes in ballet, modern dance, and musical theatre.

While many celebrities dread receiving harsh feedback from the judges during their time on Strictly, Amber previously shared with The Sun that she welcomes it, particularly from Shirley.

Although some members of the public have suggested that Shirley has been tougher on the 29-year-old than on any other contestant, Amber – who performs in the West End and has appeared in "9 To 5: The Musical," "Back To The Future," and "The Great Gatsby" – disagrees.

“I love the judges,” Amber asserts.

“I look forward to Shirley’s comments the most. I am a ‘tough love’ kind of person. Perhaps it’s due to the industry I’m in, but my entire job revolves around continuous learning.

“During the run of a West End show, I receive notes throughout the contract. I am always striving to improve, and that’s precisely what the judges are doing.

“They provide feedback because they know that any critique they offer is intended to help us grow.

“So, you just have to listen and accept it – they are all experts. I would prefer they critique me on the ‘harsh’ side. I perform better when they are direct.”
