MANY Dream Team managers will spend the international break mulling over a transfer for Alexander Isak (£6.5m).

But there’s another participant of the Premier League’s latest merry-go-round to consider, Yoane Wissa (£4.5m).

The DR Congo striker signed for Newcastle on deadline day and was designated the No9 shirt upon his arrival at St James’ Park.

The Magpies have also recruited tall forward Nick Woltemade (£4m) from Stuttgart but, as the proven Premier League goalscorer of the pair, Wissa is likely to start at the top of the pecking order.

Interestingly, the 29-year-old scored the exact same number of non-penalty league goals (19) as Isak last season.

And only four forwards scored more goals in all competitions — a great effort considering Brentford did not have European commitments or a cup run of note.

Like Isak, Wissa is yet to play a single minute this season due to transfer speculation but he’ll be raring to go in Gameweek 4 having finally earned the move he so desired.

Some Dream Team bosses may be hesitant to back a striker who is yet to feature in 2025/26, especially one who has changed clubs, but he is a tempting option on paper.

For starters, Newcastle are one of just six clubs set to pull double duty immediately after the international break, when the Champions League league phase will get underway after a full round of Premier League fixtures.

Eddie Howe’s side also have the benefit of two home games with both Wolves and Barcelona due in the North East.

Lamine Yamal and company represent stiff opposition but Vitor Pereira’s troops are currently languishing bottom of the league table.

In fact, Wolves are the only top flight side to have lost all three of their league games so far.

So not only do Newcastle have a double Gameweek – always so important in Dream Team – one of their fixtures has to be considered very favourable on current form.

Given his impressive stats last season, Wissa is certainly a viable option at £4.5m.

Some gaffers will want to see more from Newcastle before they recruit any assets.

The Toon have endured 0-0 draws against Aston Villa and Leeds either side of a heartbreaking defeat to Liverpool.

Wissa currently features in just 0.9% of teams.
