ALEXANDER ISAK (£6.3m) kicked off Gameweek 3 in fine style on Friday night.

Liverpool’s No9 bagged a brace within nine minutes against Ipswich on his way to a 16-point haul.

Kjell Scherpen (£2.2m) should have done better with Isak’s opening goal but the Swedish striker exhibited expert footwork for his second.

A quick succession of four perfect touches was reminiscent of his best moments in a Newcastle shirt and should give him confidence that he can ascend to such a level again after his serious injury.

Isak now has three goals from as many games in 2026/27, all assisted by Cody Gakpo (£4.8m).

The latter was heavily linked with a move away during the transfer window but Andoni Iraola will be happy to have retained the Dutchman, who has arguably been the Reds’ best player so far this term.

Gakpo’s two high-quality throughballs earned him 10 points and his developing understanding with Isak is a positive for Liverpool’s head coach.

Isak’s display set the theme for the Premier League weekend as forwards from the other so-called ‘big clubs’ followed suit.

MOST POINTS AMONG DREAM TEAM STRIKERS IN GAMEWEEK 3

  • 16 pts – Alexander Isak
  • 12 pts – Erling Haaland
  • 10 pts – Kai Havertz
  • 8 pts – Benjamin Sesko

It’s notable that this list is made up of centre forwards from the Champions League clubs as the league phase of Uefa’s flagship competition gets underway this week.

Isak, Haaland, Havertz and Sesko are all likely to get another chance to add to their Gameweek tally.

In fact, 12 clubs are scheduled to fulfil midweek fixtures with Carabao Cup action scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Isak has 29 points in total, which puts him level with Joao Pedro (£5.4m) in the overall rankings and four points behind Haaland.

Thierno Barry (£2.8m) leads the way among all players with 44 points, 29 of them from a hat-trick against Preston.

The Everton man is something of an anomaly but otherwise a clear pattern has emerged already; the expensive strikers from the top clubs are worth the investment.
