ALEJANDRO GARNACHO has acknowledged that he experienced a “challenging period in life” after being sidelined at Manchester United.

He revealed that those weeks spent in exile, as part of the club's 'bomb squad,' were quite difficult.

Garnacho shared with TNT Sports : “It was a tough time, training alone.

“However, I have no negative feelings towards my former club, Manchester United.

“It was merely a challenging moment in life, but now I’m thrilled to be here, to compete in this tournament, and to secure three points today.”

Garnacho, 21, has had to be patient for playing time since his transfer.

He made his first start for the Blues against Lincoln last week but was absent for the loss to Brighton.

However, he returned to the starting lineup for the 1-0 victory over his opponents and was delighted to be back on the pitch.

When asked if participating in the competition made his summer struggles worthwhile, Garnacho responded: “Absolutely, yes.

“As kids, we dreamed of playing on Champions League nights, and now we’re living that dream, so I’m very happy.

“It’s three crucial points. We needed that after our first loss, so we’re all very pleased.”
