ALAN SHEARER is encouraging Yoane Wissa to think about opting out of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The 29-year-old forward from DR Congo has yet to play a competitive match this season.

Although he missed a significant amount of time while trying to secure his transfer, the star still traveled for international duty in September—just days after joining St James’ Park for £50 million.
He scored against South Sudan but sustained a knee injury in the latter match, which has kept him out since.
The Newcastle manager revealed two weeks ago that his expected return has now been pushed to the start of next month.
However, even if his recovery goes as planned, the Toon will still be without him for a large part of December and early January due to the AFCON finals.
Yet, Newcastle's all-time leading scorer has suggested that the new No. 9 should prioritize his new club over the prestigious tournament.
Shearer stated to Betfair : “It will be a really challenging decision for Wissa not to attend AFCON—because representing your country is always a priority.
“However, I would argue that, due to not training or playing over the summer, he could have been more responsible in limiting his play during those two international matches when he hadn’t played at all.
“It’s tough to tell someone they can’t represent their country when it means so much to them.
“We know AFCON is a significant tournament, and players are eager to participate.
“It’s a difficult situation, but I understand that many people feel he has yet to play for Newcastle and should show some loyalty to the club.
“I understand that perspective, especially since Newcastle invested a considerable amount in him.
“He hasn't yet stepped onto the pitch at St James’ Park.
“It will be a really tough decision for him and for Newcastle.
“I’m not sure if there’s a way to navigate this situation.”
