Aitch, 25, admitted that he reached out to AngryGinge a few days before the show began and discussed how they would navigate life in the jungle.
He learned that Ginge would be entering the jungle through a mutual friend, which prompted him to connect with the content creator.
He stated: “We chatted a couple of days before saying ‘Are you ready for this? Yeah, let’s go. Let’s go.’”
The Bamba hitmaker emphasized that the crown was always destined to return to Manchester, one way or another.
“I said, ‘If you don’t win, I need to win, and if I don’t win, you need to win. Either way, we need to bring this crown back to Manchester somehow,’” he told the Mirror.
Typically, celebrities are kept isolated before the show begins and have their phones confiscated to prevent any pre-show communication.
However, it seems Aitch may have breached the rules before departing for Australia.
In Sunday’s finale, Manchester-based YouTuber AngryGinge was crowned the King of the Jungle, surpassing fellow finalists Tom Read Wilson and Shona McGarty.
It has now been revealed that Shona, 34, was the first to exit the finale in third place, having received only 22% of the public vote—compared to 25% for Tom and 53% for Ginge.
With only Tom, 39, and Ginge remaining, the voting reopened, leading to Ginge securing the victory.
He garnered an impressive 65% of the votes, while Tom received 35% of the public’s support.
Ginge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, boasts an impressive 1.9 million followers on Instagram, in contrast to EastEnders star Shona’s 610K followers and Celebs Go Dating star Tom’s 1.1 million followers.
Following his victory, Ginge expressed his emotions after being crowned King Of The Jungle by hosts Ant and Dec , holding his head in his hands during an emotional moment.
He remarked: “I don’t think I can swear, but I feel incredible. Honestly, it’s a dream come true. I never thought I would make it this far, let alone win. Thank you to everyone who voted.”
He previously noted regarding the experience: “It was much tougher than I anticipated. I had reached out to others before entering for advice, but no one warned me about what I was about to face. Nobody mentioned it would be this challenging.”
“That was the hardest thing I’ve ever done and was a true mental challenge,” he added.
“There were countless moments when I wanted to give up.”
NO ROMANCE ON THE HORIZON
Meanwhile, any hopes for a romance between Aitch and EastEnders’ Shona have been quashed after he clarified that she is just a friend.
The duo had sparked speculation of a jungle love story earlier in the series when the rapper mentioned he had a “soft spot” for the actress.
Mancunian Aitch, whose real name is Harrison Armstrong, told The Sun: “I just heard this five minutes ago!
“No, Shona’s just a great person. I feel like we are cut from the same cloth in a way. We share the same sense of humor.
“Of course, I haven’t watched the show, so I’m not aware of what has been portrayed, but it was nothing like that.
“I believe we bonded over music—me knowing she’s trying to emerge from the jungle and pursue her music career while I have my own music career.
“It felt like there were only a few of us, like me and Martin (Kemp), she could talk to about certain things.
“I think because of my age… no one is going to suggest she had a romance with Martin since he’s married.
