Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, has stated that he will support his teammate Stanley Nwabali if the Chippa United shot-stopper is selected ahead of him once more at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Uzoho has previously been Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper but lost that position to Nwabali following a series of mistakes.

The Omonia Nicosia goalkeeper last represented the Super Eagles during the 2023 AFCON Round of 16 match against Cameroon.

It is worth noting that Uzoho came on as a substitute for the final 10 minutes of the match after Nwabali sustained an injury.

In an interview with Elegbete TV Sports ahead of Nigeria’s AFCON opener against Tanzania on Tuesday, Uzoho expressed his support for Nwabali if Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle decides to start him.

“I’m at my fourth AFCON, and it brings me great joy. I also thank God for granting me the strength to remain fit whenever called upon; it feels wonderful,” Uzoho remarked.

“In every position on the team, we have two or three excellent players competing.”

“Competition is essential, so when he [Nwabali] was selected, I offered him my support, and if he is chosen again, I will do the same,” he added.
