Former Nigeria coach, Sunday Oliseh, has praised Super Eagles left-back Bruno Onyeamachi for his excellent performance in the AFCON semifinal match against Morocco.

Onyeamachi held off Morocco’s main threat, Brahim Diaz, who is the leading scorer in the tournament with five goals.

Diaz was set to become the first player in Africa Cup of Nations history to score in six consecutive matches.

The Olympiacos defender kept the Real Madrid winger from scoring and later in extra time, Diaz was replaced by Ilias Akhomach.

Reacting to the game, Oliseh complimented Onyeamachi, saying the Nigerian defender did a great job matching Diaz’s energy and effectiveness.

“Bruno is putting in a lot of effort to keep Brahim Diaz quiet. Looks like this is the first time someone has beaten Diaz,” Oliseh said while commenting on SuperSport.

However, despite Onyeamachi’s strong defensive performance, Nigeria didn’t reach the final. The game finished with no goals scored, and in the penalty shootout, Nigeria lost 4-2.

The 26-year-old missed his penalty kick, which gave Morocco the edge.
